Residents from Whiddon Walgett recently enjoyed a two-day art workshop as part of Walgett’s much-loved Bulldust to Bitumen Festival.

The art workshop, sponsored by the Whiddon Group, was a brand new addition to this year’s festival and provided a fantastic opportunity for residents to express their creativity and join in the celebrations.

Registered Nurse at Whiddon Walgett, Mrs Jane Keir said the workshop was a great success and a rewarding experience for residents.

“The workshop was truly fantastic and a great opportunity for our residents to get creative, engage with the artists and feel connected with the local community.”

“Creative expression can bring great benefits to older people, including building confidence and improving health and wellbeing, which is why we have such a strong focus on creative ageing at Whiddon,”

“It’s also very important that our residents feel part of the local community. Programs such as this support connection and build on the strong links Whiddon has with our community.

“The residents thoroughly enjoyed the workshop and some of impressive pieces of art produced are proudly displayed in our home.”

‘I am very proud of Whiddon’s support of this workshop and thank all involved for bringing this wonderful activity to Walgett for our residents to experience.” Ms Keir said.

The Bulldust to Bitumen Festival celebrates what’s great about Walgett and has plenty to offer locals and visitors, with a jam-packed program of fun. As an employer and aged care provider in regional, rural and remote NSW, we are often at the heart of our communities, and  are very pleased to be a part of this popular community festival.
