Scholarship programs

Help us develop industry leaders and innovators to support some of the most vulnerable people in our communities

About Whiddon’s Scholarship Program

At Whiddon, we invest a great deal in finding and developing carers, nurses, cooks and many others who have the values and skills to provide the right experience for our residents and clients. It’s a special person who can really listen and provide care and support that truly makes a difference to older people’s lives. Working in aged care is not a job, it’s a calling.

Health Services Management Scholarship

My Scholarship allows me to undertake a Graduate Certificate in Health Services Management. The course focuses on Health and Aged Care Service Development and Policies. I will be studying through Charles Sturt University in Bathurst.

Without this scholarship, I would not have been able to undertake further education. This will allow me to formally build on the years of experience I have working in this role and develop my leadership and managerial skills. I strive to achieve the best possible outcomes for our residents, staff and facility.

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Question: Why should I sponsor the program?

Answer:
Aging and subsequently the need for aged care services is something that affects us all – either now or in the future. The Australian population is aging. Currently 15% of the Australian population is over 65 years old and this is estimated to increase to 18% by 2026. Around 30% of these people live in regional, rural or remote areas.

Attracting and retaining enough and the right people for this industry is a key challenge for Whiddon, and the industry as a whole. Your generous support will help recognise and reward some very special people in this business and provide them with a career path that they can not otherwise afford. It will contribute towards developing a much needed skills pipeline for this highly complex and specialist environment, making a tremendous difference to not only the lives of the recipients but more importantly, the people in their care.
