In 2017, Belinda Wood from Whiddon Temora and Priya Rangaiya from Whiddon Easton Park were awarded scholarships to undertake university studies, as part of Whiddon’s Scholarship Program.

The Scholarship Program helps Whiddon to develop aged care industry leaders and innovators to support some of the most vulnerable people in our communities.

Each year, with the generous support of our corporate partners and organisations, Whiddon’s Scholarship Program enables employees to develop their professional skills through funded tertiary studies in areas such as health and nursing, diversional therapy, catering, human resources and management.

Many courses involve practical work experience and the scholarship ensures that Whiddon employees who are located in regional, rural and remote locations have equal access to opportunities for education and career development.

Belinda’s story

For Belinda, Care Services staff member at Whiddon Temora, receiving a scholarship in 2017 will allow her undertake a Graduate Certificate in Health Services Management.

With the generous support of Crown Project Services, Belinda’s dream to undertake further studies has become a reality.

The course focuses on Health and Aged Care Service Development and Policies and she will studying through Charles Sturt University in Bathurst.

“Without this scholarship, I would not have been able to undertake further education. This will allow me to formally build on the years of experience I have working in this role and develop my leadership and managerial skills. Priya’s story

Thanks to Triforce Group, Priya is able to undertake a Bachelor or Nursing degree at Western Sydney University, to achieve her dream of becoming a registered nurse.

The scholarship has made an incredible difference to Priya’s life and in reaching her career goals. Priya loves her job as an aged care nurse as she loves helping people around her – it makes her happy.

“Nursing is challenging but you learn something new everyday and I get a lot of support from Whiddon to do my job and undertake studies,” Priya said.
