Date: 5 December 2019

On Wednesday 20th November 2019, a near unanimous vote at the AGM of the Fairview Retirement Village Board confirmed the transfer of the aged care home and retirement village to Whiddon.

Whiddon has been working with Fairview for a number of months now, having been selected in October as the preferred partner during the Fairview Board’s due diligence process. With the vote now complete, the transfer has been confirmed as being able to go ahead. The planned transition date for the home is February 2020.

“We feel honoured that the Fairview Board see Whiddon, as a not-for-profit organisation operating in regional, rural and remote areas, including Narrabri and the broader New England region, as an organisation meeting and exceeding these requirements. We genuinely care about the services we provide and our track record in regional communities speaks for itself,” says Whiddon CEO, Chris Mamarelis.

Whiddon is an experienced and trusted aged care provider in regional, rural and remote New South Wales and Queensland, and shares a strong benevolent history and common values with Fairview. Whiddon CEO Chris Mamarelis said that Whiddon is honoured to have been chosen as the organisation to continue the excellent work of Fairview and provide quality care services and employment opportunities for the local community.

“The journey of bringing a new home and community into our organisation is not one that we undertake lightly. We understand the support and resourcing that a successful transition process requires and are committed to ensuring this process minimises impact to residents, families and employees, while also bringing the benefits of being part of a larger network to the wider community.

Whiddon is committed to working alongside Fairview and the Moree community over the next few months as we prepare for the transfer in 2020. We are grateful for the opportunity to be part of this journey and to ensure that the local community continue to have access to quality, person-centred care without leaving town. We are all genuinely looking forward to the coming months, to meeting with the residents, families and employees, getting to know the community, and beginning to partner with Fairview and the people of Moree as a whole,” Mr Mamarelis said.
