Our residents in Wee Waa are reaping the benefits of some generous donations from the Weeronga Hostel Committee and Artie Hall Campdraft with the purchase of a new lifter for less mobile residents and a wonderful memorial garden.

The lifter has proven extremely beneficial for our less mobile residents, assisting in the transfer to/from seated or lying positions. Our Director Care Services in Wee Waa, Sara Phillips, is delighted by the generous gift, saying “staff and clients are very appreciative as the new lifter has made a huge impact on how we can now care for our less mobile clients.”

“The lifter is fitted with a set of scales to monitor weights and it has a function to assist our clients in a seated or lying position. Our clients who have been using the new lifter have commented on how comfortable and safe they feel,” says Sara.

When an extension to the home was made, the original rose garden was lost. With the combined effort from Whiddon, the Weeronga Hostel Committee and our staff, a beautiful new memorial garden has been installed.

Twenty miniature roses have been planted around the donated fountain, in acknowledgement of the past and present Committee members, with a new rose to be planted each year in memory of clients who have passed away.

“Weeronga is lucky to have a committee so focused on the needs of both clients and staff with many purchases over the years that have made the home such a comfortable place for our elderly,” says Sara.

Whiddon Wee Waa would like to thank the Weeronga Hostel Committee and Artie Hall Campdraft for their kind and generous donations, as well as the many volunteers and staff who have also contributed their time and efforts.
