New Update: 16 July 2020

As you are all aware, there is an increasing number of COVID 19 cases in South West Sydney and potential exposure points in the wider Sydney and Newcastle area. So far, there have been no positive cases amongst any of our residents, staff and visitors across any of our Whiddon homes, and as a result, we have implemented a number of important safety measures to continue keeping our residents and employees safe in response to this situation.

These measures include tightening of visitor restrictions for now, to include visits on compassionate grounds only until we know more about this unfolding situation. If you would like to arrange a visit on such grounds, please speak with your Care Manager. Compassionate visits are for residents that are close to the end of life or who may be distressed due to dementia and need the support of their loved one. Your Care Manager can provide further information on compassionate visits.

As soon as we feel it is safe to do so, we will once again relax these restrictions.

We will also do all that we can to help you stay connected to your loved ones through phone calls, video chats and risk-free visits. Your Director of Care Services can provide further information on compassionate visits and staying connected.

We apologise for the short notice in implementing these measures, however we believe that they are important steps in helping to keep everyone safe. During these times, we need to stay vigilant and monitor what is happening in our local communities, and this decision aligns with our approach to responding to a local COVID-19 situation.

We thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we take steps to help ensure your loved one stays safe and well.
