To celebrate NSW Seniors Festival, Whiddon has developed an exciting and engaging program of events across our services.

2018 marks 60 years of the NSW Seniors Festival and this year’s theme is ‘Let’s do more together.’ Our events celebrate the valuable contributions of older people and offer a whole lot of fun for residents, families and friends. So join us, and let’s celebrate together!

Whiddon Belmont

  • Intergenerational drumming workshop Monday 9 April
    A vibrant and energetic drumming workshop with residents and local primary school students. *not open to public

Whiddon Casino

  • Creative Café Thursday 12 April, 10am – 11.30am
    A coffee and a chat with a difference! The community is invited to attend a special pop-up café at Whiddon Casino with delicious food, great company and an art class led by a local artist, where participants can learn to paint with coffee! Community welcome to attend.
  • Intergenerational Trivia session Tuesday 10 April
    Local high school students will join residents for a quiz between the generations. Who will take out the champion’s title? *not open to public

Whiddon Easton Park

  • Kitchen Table Masterclass Tuesday 10 April, 10am – 1pm
    Grab some healthy cooking tips from the Macarthur Centre for Sustainable Living and use fresh herbs to create some fresh frittatas for lunch. Join the ‘garden cook and the bush chef’, meet new friends and tempt your tastebuds. Free event, open to seniors, to be held at the Macarthur Centre for Sustainable Living in Mount Annan.   • Let’s go to the movies! Friday 13 April
    With all the glamour of the big screen, enjoy a very special viewing experience when we take you to the movies, complete with choc tops *not open to public 
  • Glenfield Community Care event Wednesday 18 April
    A picnic at the Australia’s largest botanic garden – the Australian Botanic Garden, Mount Annan. A games day for community care clients, inspired by the Commonwealth Games with a delicious BBQ and stunning backdrop*not open to public

Whiddon Grafton

  • Local history exhibition  4-6 April and 9 -13 April
    Whiddon Grafton’s activity room will be transformed into a local history museum with a collection of historic photos and videos. Community welcome to attend.

Whiddon Kelso

  • Art Extravaganza and Creative Café  5 and 6 April, 10am – 4pm
    See the remarkable talents of our residents, with their very own art exhibition of more than 150 works, including subtle water colours, oil paintings, mosaic creations, lead-light pieces, embroidery and more. The community are invited to attend the exhibition and a cuppa and a chat with residents to find out the inspiration behind their works.

Whiddon Kyogle

  • Country Music Creative Café  Friday 6 April, 1pm – 4pm
    Enjoy the sounds of country music artists, a delicious afternoon tea and a chat with residents at Whiddon Kyogle’s pop-up country music festival. Community welcome to attend.

Whiddon Largs

  • High Tea Café  Thursday 5 April, 10am – 11am
    Enjoy a delicious morning tea with new friends at Whiddon Largs to celebrate NSW Seniors Festival, including a visit from guest speaker and local artist dollmaker, Cathy Brady. Community welcome to attend.

Whiddon Laurieton

  • Intergenerational Café  Thursday 12 April
    A pop-up café at Whiddon Laurieton where local high school students will bring fresh-baked treats to enjoy with residents at morning tea together, as they use food as a platform to connect the generations, share recipes and learn new skills. *not open to public

Whiddon Narrabri Jessie Hunt

  • Let’s go to the movies!  Friday 6 April, 1.30pm – 5.30pm
    Rock’n’roll inspired movie event showing and afternoon tea with delicious movie snacks.

Whiddon Narrabri Robert Young

  • Intergenerational Cafe Wednesday 11 April, from 10.30am
    It  will be a very sweet day when children from the local day care centre visit residents for a delicious morning tea. Residents will be preparing delicious treats as part of Whiddon’s VintageBites program, to enjoy between the generations. At lunch, high school students will visit and cook a delicious BBQ for all to enjoy. Community welcome.

 Whiddon Redhead

  • Rock’n’roll Cafe Wednesday 11 April, from 10.00am
    It’s time to put on those blue suede shoes as Whiddon Redhead hosts a rock’n’roll inspired morning tea. With delicious food and a performance from an Elvis impersonator, we know you can’t help falling in love with this event! Community welcome.

Whiddon Walgett

  • Community Cafe Wednesday 11 April, from 10.00am – 11.15am
    The community are invited to attend a special pop-up café at Whiddon Walgett with delicious food, great company and fun.

Whiddon Wee Waa

  • Community Cafe Thursday 12 April, from 10.00am – 2.30pm. 10am – morning tea, 12pm – lunch and entertainment. The community are invited to attend a special pop-up café at Whiddon Wee Waa with entertainment and creative fun, and of course, morning tea with all the trimmings!

Whiddon Wingham

  • Intergenerational Garden project Thursday 12 April
    Local primary school children will join residents to plant herbs in the home’s wellness garden together and enjoy a BBQ to celebrate. Family and friends welcome.
