Update on our response to COVID-19 for families and friends of Whiddon Belmont
With the growing number of COVID-19 cases in the Hunter region and the potential exposure points, we wanted to provide you with an update on our response to this situation. As you may know, we have taken important precautionary measures to help stop COVID-19 from entering our care homes. We are pleased to advise you that there are no cases of COVID-19 at any of Whiddon’s aged care homes.
Today, we received advice from the Hunter New England Local Area Health Service that as Whiddon Belmont is located in the Lake Macquarie Local Government area, for the next week, as a precaution, visitors are not permitted. This advice also includes that staff need to wear surgical masks while they are at work.
As we continue to monitor this local situation and follow advice from NSW Health, for now, visits to Whiddon Belmont are on compassionate grounds only until we know more about this situation. If you would like to arrange a visit on such grounds, please speak with the Director Care Services.
We understand the importance of keeping our residents connected during this time, so our team is working hard to facilitate phone and video calls wherever possible. We also have a free app, Checked-in-Care, that is available to download. We can provide you with access to this app, so you can enjoy video calls through this platform. Click here to get started.
It is important that we have the right contact details to contact our residents’ families and representatives quickly. You can help us with this by updating your contact details when they change. You can do this here.
We will provide you with another update next week, or sooner if needed. Please remember to share these updates with family members and friends who would normally visit your loved one and also encourage them to check our COVID-19 page on our website for the latest updates.
We know this is a challenging time and we genuinely appreciate your support as we implement these measures to help keep your loved one safe. We look forward to increasing visitation once again, once it is safe to do so.
