Update to Whiddon Easton Park and Whiddon Hornsby families
30 December 2020
We received directives from NSW Health today, 30 December, that visitors to Whiddon Easton Park and Whiddon Hornsby must be excluded from attending these care homes, except for approved visits on compassionate grounds. This NSW Health directive applies to all residential aged care homes in Greater Sydney, until at least 11.59pm on Wednesday 6 January.
The precautionary measures that are currently in place at Whiddon Hornsby and Whiddon Easton Park, which include directives from NSW Health, include:
• Visitation is restricted to approved compassionate visits only. For visits on compassionate grounds, such as end of life visits, prior approval is required by the Director Care Services and restrictions will be in place to manage any associated risks such as accompanying the visitor to the room.
• For anyone attending an approved visit, please ensure that you use the QR code wherever possible, which can be accessed at the entrance of the care home. If the QR code is not available or you do not have a smart phone then please ensure that you sign in at the Visitor Register. We are required to keep a record of all visitors for the purpose of contact tracing if required.
• All staff working in our care homes and exempted visitors must wear surgical masks while in a residential aged care facility until further notice
We are working with our teams at Hornsby and Easton Park to provide increased activities and support to help residents connect with their loved ones during this time, as we know how important this is.
We know this is a difficult time and we genuinely thank you for your ongoing support and understanding. We will provide a further update next Wednesday, or sooner if required.
