Thousands of older Australians are now taking the first steps under the new in-home aged care program, which officially replaced the Home Care Packages (HCP) program on 1 November 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Whether you\u2019ve already spoken to an aged care provider or are still exploring your options, it\u2019s normal to have questions. Starting home care is an important milestone, and we\u2019re here to help you understand what your approval means and what to do next.<\/p>\n<div class=\"buttons\" style=\"margin-bottom: 40px;text-align: center\"><a class=\"cta-orange-btn fixed\" href=\"https:\/\/www.whiddon.com.au\/contact\/\">Get in Touch with Us<\/a><\/div>\n<h2>What Does Your Approval Mean?<\/h2>\n<p>Your approval means you\u2019re now eligible to receive <a href=\"https:\/\/www.myagedcare.gov.au\/\"><strong>government-funded care<\/strong><\/a> to help you live safely and independently at home. Under Support at Home, your funding is allocated as a quarterly budget based on your care needs. You can use this to access a range of services, including personal care, help around the home, allied health, transport and social support.<\/p>\n<p>If your approval letter came after the reforms were introduced, there\u2019s no need to worry about the change from HCP to Support at Home. You\u2019ve already been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whiddon.com.au\/yourlife\/how-to-navigate-aged-care-assessments\/\"><strong>assessed under the new system<\/strong><\/a> and are ready to move forward with care.<\/p>\n<h2>Haven\u2019t Chosen a Provider Yet? Start Here<\/h2>\n<p>If you haven\u2019t chosen a provider yet, that\u2019s your next step. Once you\u2019ve been approved, you have 56 days to enter into a service agreement with a provider.
