Urgent Comms for Wingham RAC Families – 21.05.2025

Dear Families, 

We want to reassure you that all residents and staff at our Wingham Home are safe and well. 

Despite local flooding and evacuation orders, the Residential Aged Care Home remains fully operational. There has been minor damage to storage areas, but the home has power, water, and phone services, and is well-stocked. Our team is closely monitoring the situation and following SES advice. 

If anything changes, we will update you immediately. While the phones are currently working, if you have trouble reaching the home, please call us on 1300 738 388 and we’ll pass on your message.

Urgent Update for Whiddon Easton Park – EPU Families, Friends and Representatives – 210525

Dear Families, Friends & Representatives,

We would like to provide an update to all families regarding a Gastroenteritis outbreak at Whiddon Easton Park.  We have experienced more cases in the home, now affecting floors L1 Mallam, L2B and level 3. Families of residents who are directly affected have been notified.

To assist in controlling the outbreak, we strongly encourage you to delay your visit where possible to protect your own wellbeing and to avoid any further potential spread.  If you are unwell or experiencing symptoms, please refrain from visiting the home.

If it is necessary that you visit, please wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before visiting and when leaving the home. If you have any questions, please contact the nurse in charge.

Urgent Flood Warning Update for Whiddon Home Care Clients – 20.05.25

Dear Home Care Clients,

We wish to inform you that there are currently flood warnings in place for certain areas of the Mid North Coast and Hunter regions in NSW.

The safety and wellbeing of our clients and employees is our priority and we are taking every effort to prepare for this weather situation.

We’re keeping a close eye on the conditions and following all guidance from the local SES.

In the very rare event that an evacuation is required, it is important you have a plan in place and know where you will go. We have created a Flood Preparation Checklist which you can view here.

In the event that you are unable to contact your Coordinator, you can call our team on 1300 738 388 and we will respond to your inquiry as soon as possible.

If you need urgent support, you can call the SES on 132 500 or in an emergency call 000.

Urgent Flood Warning Update for Whiddon Wingham Families, Friends and Representatives – 20.05.25

Dear Families, Friends and Representatives,

We wish to inform you that there are currently flood warnings in place for low-lying areas of Wingham. At this stage, our care home is not impacted.

The safety and wellbeing of our residents and employees is our priority and we are taking every effort to prepare for this weather situation.

We’re keeping a close eye on the conditions and following all guidance from the local SES. As a precaution, we are preparing food and essential supplies in case the situation extends.

In the very rare event that an evacuation is required, our teams are fully briefed on our Emergency Management Plans and will ensure that we keep you updated at every step of the way.

While we always welcome visitors at Whiddon, we encourage you to also prepare and stay safe, and to avoid travel to our home.

Visitation is to continue in resident rooms and N95 mask are to be worn.  Please consult with the registered nurse on duty.

Please note: If you are unwell or have any flu-like symptoms, please do not visit the home.

The families of residents who have tested positive will be contacted directly by the team.

We know that this is a challenging time, and we appreciate your understanding and support. Our team is here to provide the best possible care for your loved ones and we are confident that we can manage this outbreak effectively.

Please be advised that we currently have confirmed positive Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) cases at our Laurieton home.

The outbreak management plan has been activated and the affected residents are isolating in their rooms.

Visitation is to continue in resident rooms and N95 masks are to be worn.  Please consult with the registered nurse on duty.

We are pleased to inform you that the recent Influenza A outbreak at our facility has officially been declared over. We are grateful to be returning to normal routines while continuing to prioritise the health and safety of our residents and staff.

We would like to extend my thanks to all residents and families for your patience, understanding, and cooperation throughout this period.

We also want to acknowledge our dedicated staff, who worked diligently to care for residents and implement the necessary precautions to bring the situation under control.

Although the outbreak has ended, we remain committed to maintaining high standards of infection prevention and will continue monitoring the health of our residents closely.

Update regarding COVID-19 for Whiddon Largs Families, Friends and Representatives – 30.04.25

Dear Families, Friends & Representatives,

Following consultation with the Public Health Unit, we are pleased to inform you that the outbreak in Whiddon Largs has been officially declared over.

Due to moderate levels of COVID-19 in the community, surgical masks are still required when visiting the home.

RA testing is not required when visiting the home, however we ask you to please refrain from visiting if you are feeling unwell or showing any signs of cold and flu symptoms. The health of our residents and employees is our utmost priority.
