Whiddon Kelso’s, previously known as Ilumba Gardens, aged care community is bustling with activity as the aged care home prepares to open a new wing. The new wing brings a welcome relief to the region’s aged care waitlists with an additional sixty private rooms and ensuite bathrooms currently under construction. Admissions for new residents at the home will commence in May this year, with the waitlist growing steadily already.

In addition to the sixty private rooms, the new residential care wing adds an onsite cafe, new foyer and reception area, enclosed courtyard, landscaped gardens and more places for older people requiring care for complex health needs, including dementia and end of life care.

“We have been receiving a steady number of calls and drop-ins over the past few months from older people and families looking into care options and it is wonderful to be in a position to help meet the care needs of our community,” shared Director Care Services, Nicole Mahara.

“We will be holding a number of open days throughout May and welcome people to attend and get a feel for our home and care and support services. In the meantime, families are most welcome to come in for a tour of our home and meet with one of our team to discuss care options,” Mahara said.
