Grafton serves up Biggest Morning Tea
Date: 15 June 2016
The team from our Grafton home are delighted with the success of their Biggest Morning Tea which raised over $800.00.
The Biggest Morning Tea was held at our Grafton home on May 26 to help raise funds for the Cancer Council.
The event drew in over 100 guests, including our residents, staff and their families, who were treated to delicious baked goods for morning tea, and were entertained by live music from our Grafton home’s much-loved volunteer, Buck, who played guitar and sang songs to the crowd.
Funds were raised through the sale of baked goods provided by Grafton’s Auxiliary Committee, as well as raffle tickets and generous donations made by attendees, with all proceeds going directly to the Cancer Council.
Our Director Care Services in Grafton, Sandra Osborne, is thrilled with the generosity of the local community, and speaks highly of the growing partnership.
“Events such as these are very important in maintaining our connection to our local community,” she said.
“It is such a pleasure to not only be able to give back to our community, but to see the enjoyment our residents feel from creating connections and socialising with the wider community.” she said.
Residents and other guests have echoed this sentiment, saying “I can’t believe how much fun we have had today”, “we appreciate how much effort Whiddon’s staff members have gone to” and “we can’t wait to see what’s on next!”
One particularly contented resident summed up the morning tea: “Good food, good company and good times!”
