Free Respite Care

Respite is a short-term care solution for older people, either in their own home or in a residential aged care home.

Respite care gives carers and family members the opportunity to recharge, take a short break and attend to daily life, knowing that their family member is being looked after.

From December 2019 until February 29, 2020, we are pleased to be offering free* respite at select Whiddon homes. Find out more below or talk to us today!

Where is free respite care available?

Free Respite – terms and conditions

Our free respite offer means you don’t pay a thing at our selected homes during the 2 week (maximum) stay. You are exempt from this daily care fee.

If you require longer care in respite at one of our homes, this fee is known as the Basic Daily Care Fee and it is set at 85% of the single person rate of the basic age pension. From November 2019 (for example), this fee is $51.63 per day.

There are no other costs involved in respite care at Whiddon and we do not ask for a booking fee.

  • Free respite allocation is a maximum of two weeks per customer, with a minimum usage period of one week.

  • If the customer requires an extension of their respite stay before returning home or transitioning to permanent care, or would like to book a longer stay up front, they are required to commence paying the Daily Care Fee after 2 weeks (14 days).

  • Free respite will only be available for residents with a High Care Residential Respite approval

  • This offer is valid for the following time period only: December 2019 to 29th February 2020 at selected locations. After this date, the Daily Care Fee for respite services will resume.
